A few days ago I decided to finally get into a routine of starting the day off early. My intention was to leave for work earlier so that I could get out sooner and still get some sunlight. However, despite waking up at 6AM and coming into work three hours earlier, the past two days I've left work at the usual time, 6pm or 7pm. Ugh. Couple that with my intense late night workouts (around 10pm) and I'm beat. This has also screwed up my posting schedule, as I am not finding any time (or energy) to write. I'm going to get things back on track this week.
I experienced something similar when I tried adjusting my schedule during some of my projects. Because I was always waiting on people to get back to me, and fires always had to be put out in the afternoon, I sometimes just gave up and started coming in late to work. I got all the “must do” work done, and the lower priority stuff just caused a backlog.
Not an ideal situation, but it was better than working 60 hours a week as punishment for trying to come in early =P
Yeah, fighting fires in the afternoon is what has been holding me up too. Also, trying to get stuff to the point where I’m waiting for a response from someone else, instead of them waiting on me, has, in most cases, backfired on me. Since it’s still early in the afternoon they often reply to me immediately, putting the ball back in my court and making me feel like I need to respond right away.
Hopefully some of that will be elevated when I find a junior support guy to help me out. 😉 Of course, I’ll need to train him first…
