I've been keeping up with my workout routine quite religiously lately, spending about two hours every day either running and stretching or doing body-weight workouts and stretching. With my recent commitments to exercise I haven't found much time to do anything else. At work, my workload has been heavier than usual and the three hours of time I spend driving to and from work really feel like a waste. I'm beginning to consider taking the T again so I can at least read/write while commuting, but that means an additional hour of commuting every day.
Wow, two hours every day is quite a commitment. Was an everyday commitment part of your plan? If not, maybe 4-5 times a week is worth considering? I started a few weeks ago, going to the gym everyday, and I noticed when I scaled back to 4-5 times per week, I actually seem to do better with my weight training and can push much harder with cardio. Just a thought. But keep up the good work!
An everyday commitment was part of my plan, although I try to take at least one day off (Saturday or Sunday). But thanks for the reminder! Sometimes I get so set on something that I forget scaling back a little can actually improve things overall!
Personally, I’ve got the hyperfocused sort of exhaustion going on. I arrived at the office Sunday morning. I finally left last night. On the other hand, our remote backups are more reliable than they’ve ever been, and our DoS monitoring system is now a lot closer to real-time than netflow data should allow it to be, so it’s an acceptable tradeoff.
Also, when I finally do sleep, I’m fairly certain that I’ll have Perl nightmares. I’ll be surrounded by random line noise, but it will all be executable.
Haha, I’ve had similar dreams after coding for several days straight.
