It's the year 2006 and we're still discovering planets in our own Solar System. That goes to show just how little we really know about, well, everything. The new planet, named 2003 UB313 (for now), is 420 miles wider than Pluto. The only problem is that now scientists are arguing over how to define what a planet really is. Some want to say everything past Neptune can't be a planet because its too small and others, including myself, argue that anything bigger than Pluto has to be called a planet.
I could really care less about the argument. It's the discovery and science that blows me away. I read somewhere that we may have up to 20 additional "planets" orbiting our Sun. They're all just too far out to be lit up enough for us to see.
When you take into account, everything we currently know, about the Earth, the human body, our solar system, our galaxy, and you take all that information and put it next to a list of what we don't know and how much is left to be learned and discovered, you begin to realize just how little we know about anything. If we only use 5% of our brain power, then imagine the things we'd be capable of if we used 50%.
Also in the news, "Pigeons to get mobile-phone backpacks" is an amazing demonstration of how we can use technology. I couldn't help but laugh at the title, but after reading the article, I was amazed. Pigeons with camera's and mobile phones, automatically taking pictures from the sky and sending them to post on a blog.
Sorry to burst bubbles or be bearer of counterarguments, but the 5% of brain thing is a complete myth, but a pretty damn good one for wishful thinkers. Don’t take my word for it though. You can read the nuerodoctor has to say at:

It would be nice to use 50% of our brain for critical thinking, but its too bad the other 95% of the brain is used for simple things like living and breathing.
Cute story with the pigeons by the way! Now they can be more useful for things other than crapping on our business suits and eating our bread. =)
Don’t apologize for correcting me! That’s what this comment section is for! I haven’t done much research on the topic, but I’ll be sure to read more about it when I get a chance. I appreciate your corrections, and comments!
I heard someone talking about the US sent a telescope to pluto and it won’t be there till 2054???? And I thought flying from Indiana to Vietnam was a long way.
It’s amazing to think that we can send something that far and it take that long and it’ll send pictures to us here and now if they could make me a vehicle or Raam one that would last that long and never break down or need anything.
