The static weather season

If you're living in the Northeast, you've probably noticed the increase of static discharges. I know I have! It's all this dry weather. Electricity conducts better through dry air, so it's more likely to jump across things and give you a shock. Every day when I change my clothes to do my 10 minute cardio burns, I know exactly when I'll be shocked and each time I try to pretend that I don’t know its coming. I’ve been shocked by a much higher current (try 120 volts! (actually, don’t try it)), but those static discharges can pack quite a punch if they hit the right nerve.

  1. Everyday at work. I walk into my office, take my coat off, hang it up in the conference room, walk over to the HUGE old wall save and get a big ol’ spark off the turn dial.

Also getting out of my car everytime.

Like you, I know exactly when and where it’s going to happen, and trying to avoid it just makes it worse when it does happen.
